| Bank holiday over, the highlight has got to be the "Breakin' Convention"- Park Jam. Such a positive & inspirational day out. No entry fee, no age limits just fun in the sun with Break dancers at all levels on the lino, spray paint area allowing kids to see how its done, of course there was a fashion area selling all that good stuff from the likes of "Kicks & Klothes", "Kicks On The Moon" & "Playdot" to name a few. I take my hat off to the MC's going at it all day, & I didnt hear them swear once, talk about setting a good example for the kids. Shouts out to my man Junior & little Shayla. |
Add Comment The Book (available here) looks at the early days of hip hop fashion through the lens of a legendary group of artists known as the "Shirt Kings". "Funky Phade", "Mighty Nike" & "King Kasheme" (pictured below) were the team that operated from their store at The Coliseum Mall in Queens, creating works of art for the likes of Mike Tyson, LL Cool J & Big Daddy Kane to name a few. So much in this book, a must have for anyone into fashion. Check out a previous post (includes video) on the "Shirt Kings" here. |
